justenvs
A native Mac app to keep every project's .env encrypted, unlocked with Touch ID, and shared through zero-knowledge links.

Demo
The problem
Every developer has .env files scattered across old projects, pasted in chats and lost when they switch laptops. They hold the most sensitive keys we have, and we treat them like notes.
What I built
- A native macOS app in Swift and SwiftUI. Your environment variables are encrypted on your Mac with CryptoKit, and the key lives in the Keychain behind Touch ID.
- Zero-knowledge sharing. Send a teammate a link; the server only ever sees encrypted data it can't read.
.envsync with your project folders, so the app stays the source of truth.- Auto-updates with Sparkle and a marketing site at justenvs.app.
Shipping it
I launched it in June 2026 and shipped releases almost daily to its first users. The launch week included an all-nighter when Apple stopped recognizing the app's bundle ID: I moved to a new one, restored Touch ID and walked users through reinstalling. Shipping a real Mac app taught me signing, notarization and update channels the hard way.
