Klai
Type a command and an AI draws live, animated graphics on top of any video you're watching. Winner of the New Interfaces track at Platanus Hack 26.
Winner, New Interfaces track: Platanus Hack 26 (CDMX)
Klai (first called Overlai) was built in 36 hours at Platanus Hack 26 in Mexico City, in June 2026, with Kira and Pedro, and won the New Interfaces track.
The idea
What if the graphics you see on a sports broadcast (scores, stats, player cards) could be generated on demand, on top of any video, by just asking for them?
How it works
- A Chrome extension sits on top of the video you're watching.
- You type what you want to see, like "show me this player's season stats".
- A backend in Next.js looks up the data on the web and an LLM generates the UI for it, which the extension renders as an animated overlay on the live video.
What came after
After the hackathon I explored turning it into a product for small sports broadcasts. The honest conclusion was that Klai is a great feature but not a business on its own, and that thinking fed directly into Sport Metrics.
